Your Input Needed: Due Process and the Immigration Courts
Chicago Appleseed, Chicago Council of Lawyers, and the law firm of Latham & Watkins have begun an examination of the policies and procedures of the federal immigration courts in Chicago, Los Angeles, New York, and Virginia. Our goal in this proposed project is to conduct structured interviews with lawyers representing all interests appearing in the immigration courtrooms, immigration judges, and immigration law experts.
Chicago Appleseed and the Chicago Council of Lawyers have also begun a court watching effort in Chicago. We want to obtain a balanced view of the strengths and weaknesses of the court, and to develop a set of recommendations aimed at improving its operations.
If you have direct experience with the immigration court and wish to offer your comments, please contact Malcolm Rich (312-988-6552 or at caffj@chicagoappleseed.org).
