Devine and Burnette to be Honored with Commitment to Justice Awards

Chicago Appleseed and the Chicago Council of Lawyers have named Cook County Public Defender Edwin A. Burnette and Cook County State's Attorney Richard A. Devine as its 2008 Commitment to Justice honorees. The awards will be presented on October 7, 2008, as Chicago Appleseed joins the Chicago Council of Lawyers to host their 2008 Annual Luncheon. The program will mark the 39th Annual Meeting of the Council and the 11th Annual Meeting of Chicago Appleseed. The 2008 Annual Luncheon reception begins at 11:30am, with the lunch and program starting at noon. The event will be held at the Palmer House Hilton, 17 East Monroe Street.

The keynote speaker is Paula Wolff, Ph.D., senior executive at Chicago Metropolis 2020. Program highlights will feature work being done by Chicago Appleseed and the Council of Lawyers to improve the criminal justice system in Cook County.

Tickets for this event are available through September 26th. Seats for the luncheon and program are $100.00. Tickets for those employed by a public interest organization, government or academic institution are only $75.00.
